We have returned to Trinidad after a memorable three weeks in Venezuela. That is the second time we have been there. Remember our Angel Falls trip back in October 2009? Well, this was almost as good. To see the Warao Indians living much as they have for thousands of years is a real treat, although they are slowly becoming more ‘civilised’. Read all about it on this month’s Log Page.
We have updated our Google Map this time as it is good to see the Orinoco Delta at close quarters. Please remember to check if you are on page 1 or 2 of our map. You will only see the entries for those dates. We have also added a small map to show our meanderings on the rivers on Our Route page.
Mike has had a break from his usual maintenance but still had some difficulties to overcome. You can check his report here.
Pat is going home for 4 weeks on the 4th April and returning on the 2nd May. The web page update may be a little late next time but will be online eventually. Now Mike has a camera there may be some photos of his work this time too.
See you then.
Welcome to the voyage of El Lobo.
We are Mike Perrin and Pat Whittaker from Sunderland, UK, We hope to spend the next few years travelling the globe. Mike has done a lot of sailing and Pat hopes she will be more experienced on their return!
We have refurbished this grand old lady, El Lobo, and began our journey on 1st April 2007. She is a 39 ft Samson C-Bird Ferro cement junk-rigged schooner which was built in 1971. She has already been to the Caribbean and the Mediterranean and Baltic with her previous owner. We hope to have as many grand adventures.
Friends and colleagues are welcome to browse these pages and we hope to keep everyone updated as the voyage progresses. If you want to drop us a line we would love to hear from you. We may not be able to reply at once while we’re at sea but will be looking forward to reading all your news as we reach our various landfalls.
